Plataran Encounter: Segehan Ritual at Plataran Menjangan Resort & Spa

Every day at Plataran Menjangan Resort & Spa, guests will witness a unique ceremonial act called “Segehan“ being held by the staffs. Segehan is a modest version of Bhuta Yadnya cermoney. The word “Segehan“ meaning "Suguh" (presenting), this ceremony is to present offerings to the Bhutakala (spirit) in order to neutralize and eliminate negative effects of accumulated waste, which is a generated by the negative thoughts, words and deeds of man in the certain period of time. Segehan can also be said as a symbol of the harmony of human relations with all creation of God (palemahan). The form of banten / offering of segehan is in a form of the base of taledan (banana leaf), filled with rice, along with its very simple side dishes such as "onion, ginger, salt" and others.
The daily ceremony at Plataran Menjangan Resort & Spa is led by the staff who prepared the offering and followed by other members playing Gamelan, a traditional Balinese instruments. This is one of many activities Plataran Menjangan Resort & Spa and Plataran L’Harmonie – West Bali National Park holds to display the traditional philosophy of “Tri Hita Karana“, a concept that evolves around three main factors: harmony among people, nature, and God.
All guests are welcomed to watch and participate in the daily Segehan ceremony held every afternoon before dusk.
