As the official partner of G20, Plataran Menjangan Hosts  –

‘TOWARDS CLIMATE POSITIVE TOURISM THROUGH DECARBONIZATION AND ECOTOURISM LAUNCHING EVENT’ at Plataran L’ Harmonie, West Bali National Park 6 – 7 JULY 2022

Plataran Menjangan, Indonesia – June 6th, 2022 – Plataran Menjangan has the opportunity to be the official partner for G20 as well as host for the launch of "Towards Climate Positive Tourism Through Decarbonization and Ecotourism" program on the 6th to 7th July. This activity is a collaboration of Plataran Menjangan with four Indonesian ministries, namely the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, the Ministry of the Environment, Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia and supported by the Indonesian Financial Services Authority and Jejak.in carbon footprint App. This event upholds the theme of Carbon Offsetting Tourism which is a form of sustainable tourism development that is continuously being intensified by various parties, including the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. One of them is by launching a carbon footprint calculation program, the Carbon Footprint Calculator.

"The carbon offset program is our effort to contribute to the balancing of emission values, we must balance the value of emissions generated by world tourism activities and currently the tourism sector accounts for around five percent of world emissions, this is from data from the Indonesian National Council on Climate Change," said Mr. Sandiaga Uno; the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy at the Weekly Press Briefing on Monday, 30th May 2022.

Plataran Menjangan is one of the ecotourism assets in Bali and has been named the Best Resort from the Best of the Best in Tripadvisor Traveler's Choice in the Top Small Stays – Asia and Top Safari Stays categories. As a pioneer of ecotourism and sustainable tourism, Plataran Menjangan is located in the West Bali National Park which is the only National Park in Bali. Plataran Menjangan with the Plataran L'Harmonie program is one of the five carbon offset pilot project destinations. Plataran L'harmonie is a form of Plataran's concern for nature, culture and society, in accordance with Plataran's three main pillars, namely "Plataran for the Nature, Plataran for the People, and Plataran for the Heritage''. Nested at an area of ​​382 hectares, Plataran Menjangan is home to 175 species of flora and 167 species of fauna. Plataran Menjangan is a destination for tourism where guests can enjoy lowland rainforest ecosystems, mangrove forests that are more than 1000 years old, beaches, coral reefs and the Bali Starlings observations which are endangered and at the same time interact with the surrounding community through a program of memorable activities that have been implemented provided by Plataran Menjangan.

As a tangible and symbolic form of the launch of the carbon offsetting program, all participants in the G-20 Hospitality Dinner will simultaneously plant mangroves on the beach around Plataran Menjangan. This effort is aimed at absorbing the carbon footprint generated by the tourism industry and to help prevent its adverse impact on the climate. The official program to support this event includes five pilot destinations, namely Plataran Menjangan – West Bali National Park, Radiant Tembudan Mangrove – Berau, East Kalimantan, 3 Colors Beach (Clungup Mangrove Conservation) – Malang, Peramun Hill – Bangka Belitung and Klawalu Mangrove Tourism Park – Sorong.

In addition, as a form of caring for the community and small medium enterprises (UMKM), Plataran Menjangan will present "From The Ocean to The Table" which is delicious cuisines originating from the sea and local fishermen while enjoying traditional captivating Balinese art performances.
