Plataran Menjangan Xtravaganza 2019 Millennials For The Forest
Xtravaganza is one of Plataran Indonesia’s events highlighting "culture, music and environment", held regularly throughout the year at Plataran hotels and resorts across Indonesia. The most recent iteration of the festival was Plataran Bromo Marathon Xtravaganza 2019.
This November, Plataran L’Harmonie will host Plataran Menjangan Xtravaganza 2019 at West Bali National Park. In keeping with Plataran’s reputation as "A True Indonesian Icon" and in line with the group’s commitment to supporting local communities, preserving the natural environment and conserving wildlife, this iconic annual celebration sets out to increase public awareness of coastal and marine ecosystems. Focusing on engaging youth demographics in conservation, Menjangan Xtravaganza 2019 will operate under the tagline: "Millennials for the Forest".
Supported by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, as well as West Bali National Park authorities, the event will focus on three main aspects: ecotourism & sustainability; culture & entertainment; and local entrepreneurship. These core concepts come together to create a schedule of captivating music and entertainment in the forest, featuring performances by artists such as Jamie Aditya (Indonesian-Australian VJ and Musician), Balawan (Indonesian guitarist and songwriter), Dialog Dini Hari (Indonesian folk band), Astrid Sulaiman (pianist & vice chairman of Ubud Village Jazz Festival) and many more.
In addition, Menjangan Xtravaganza 2019 will feature a range of conservation and eco-tourism activities that showcase the natural beauty and cultural diversity of the region. There will be an endemic tree planting project, coral planting and a Bali starling release program, along with an art and culture festival, a culinary festival and cooking academy, a mural festival, kite-making workshop and festival, and an outdoor Zumba class.
The festival will be held Saturday, 2nd November 2019 at Plataran L’Harmonie - West Bali National Park. Around 1,500 people are expected to attend the event, which will be focused mainly around the Octagon Ocean Club and Deer Sanctuary area. With a packed and varied schedule, the events and festivities will continue throughout the day and long into the evening, bringing millennials together for the good of the forest and the environment.
Continuously striving to represent Indonesian eco sustainable development tourism on the world stage, Plataran L’Harmonie Menjangan was recently named the winner at the 14th Global Forum on Human Settlements (GFHS) in the Planning and Design of Scenic Areas of Tourism Destination category, in recognition of its achievements in building a resort community in harmony with the local hydrology and topography. With this achievement, Plataran became the first hospitality company, the first national park and the first eco- development project in Indonesia ever to receive this prestigious award. In addition to the recent accolade from GFHS, the resort was a Green Silver Winner at the Indonesia Sustainable Tourism Awards in 2017, was named in the Top 100 Global Sustainable Destinations 2017 & 2018, was a Winner at the World Luxury Spa Awards in 2018 and is frequently listed in the top 100 companies in Indonesia.
