Honoring 20 Years of Literary Artistry: Ubud Writers & Readers Festival 2023
In the picturesque town of Ubud, nestled amidst the lush landscapes of Bali, something truly magical happens each year. Ubud Writers & Readers Festival, set to celebrate its 20th-anniversary edition in 2023, is more than just a literary event; it's a celebration of culture, healing, and the power of words. Conceived in 2003 as a response to the first Bali bombing, Ubud Writers & Readers Festival was born out of a need for community healing. Over the last two decades, this remarkable event has not only provided solace but has grown significantly, establishing itself as a global platform for writers, thinkers, and performers.
Each year, this literary extravaganza brings together over 150 of the world's most captivating writers, thinkers, and performers. For five days, it serves as a platform for electrifying conversations, thoughtful debates, and the joyful celebration of literary culture.
The festival's program is a rich tapestry of author in-conversations, panel discussions, Indonesian dance performances, literary lunches, guided tours of Ubud's iconic sites, late-night comedy, music, spoken word galas, book launches, workshops, and events aimed at nurturing the creativity of emerging writers and young minds.
The Ubud Experience
One of the festival's unique offerings is the 4-Day Festival Pass, which grants unlimited access to its main program. With this pass, attendees can immerse themselves in engaging sessions for as many days as they desire. It includes:
- Entry to the festival from Thursday, October 19th, to Sunday, October 22nd, 2023.
- Access to the full spectrum of programs, including main panel discussions.
- Entry to after-dark events, featuring exclusive film screenings and live music performances.
Nestled in the heart of Ubud, Plataran Ubud Hotel & Spa is set to host an unforgettable event that will ignite the imaginations of literature enthusiasts and cultural aficionados. On October 21st, 2023, the Banyan Tree Deck and Sriwedari Lounge will come alive as they become the backdrop for the prestigious Ubud Writers & Readers Festival, broadcasting live to a global audience.
